Description
This coffee is grown on the slopes of Mount Elgon in the Kibali forest of Uganda, at altitudes of over 5,500 feet. This region is certified by the Rain Forest Alliance, providing 100% shade cover.
Christians are actively helping farmers in this region who have formed a coop and have built 4 greenhouses as well as a seedling nursery and a pulp-washing station. Direct sales of these beans help support Potters Field Kids in Uganda, an organization which impacts over 300 children through activities, education, tutoring, snack and meal programs. 120 scholarships are awarded to children of impoverished families who otherwise could not afford schooling. These children are enabled to attend Calvary Chapel Christian Academy, an elementary school on the property of Calvary Chapel Entebbe, and to participate in a child discipleship program. Potters Field Kids also hosts Saturday Morning Kids Clubs with activities and meals for the children, as well as Bible teaching and memorization.
The families of workers in this region are directly impacted by our purchase of the crop they tend and harvest. This is a great opportunity to bless these neighbors financially as well as with provision for educational and spiritual needs.
